How to Manage Serial Numbers in CMP

Generate Serial Numbers

From the General Serial Numbers screen, you can create individual serial numbers, or a range of serial numbers, and optionally assign them to a salesperson or account.

The following steps describe how to create serial numbers.

  1. From the Admin Console module, select Number Management > Generate Serial Numbers.

  2. Select the network to which the serial numbers are to be assigned from the Network drop-down list. This field is mandatory.

  3. Optionally select the subscription groupClosed In the Customer Manager Platform hierarchy, the highest level of the structure. The group level can be used to group corporates. Groups can hold financial information. associated with the network selected above.

  4. Select the identifier used to group the serial numbers together from the Serial Number Id drop-down list. This field is mandatory.

  5. Enter the serial number, or the starting serial number of the range of serial numbers, you want made available to the selected network in the Starting Serial Number field. This field is mandatory.

  6. Enter the number of serial numbers you want to create in the Quantity field. This field is mandatory.

The serial numbers are generated and can be viewed from the Manage Serial Numbers screen.

Manage Serial Numbers

You can filter the generated serial numbers for a particular network, serial number Id and quantity from the Manage Serial Numbers screen. From this screen you can view the status of the filtered serial numbers, change the date by resetting a serial number, allocate or deallocate a serial number to the relevant salesperson or account, and delete it.

Filter the listview

To access the serial numbers you want to manage, you can specify filter criteria to view the serial numbers available in a particular network. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. From the Admin Console module, select Number Management > Manage Serial Numbers.

  2. Specify the filter criteria using the available fields.

    • From the Network field, select the network from which you want to load serial numbers.

    • Select the relevant Serial Number Id from the drop-down list.

    • Enter the number of serial numbers to display in the listview, in the Quantity field.

    • To refine the listview, you can optionally enter the following:

      • The subscription group associated with the network selected above.

      • The starting serial number of the range of serial numbers in the Starting Serial Number field.

      • The salesperson or account.

      • The status of the serial number from the Management Status field drop-down list.

  3. Click Apply.

Allocate a Serial Number

You can allocate a serial number from the Manage Serial Numbers listview to either a salesperson or account.

Once the listview has been filtered to display the relevant serial numbers, you can allocate them to their respective salesperson or account.

The following steps describe how to allocate a serial number to a salesperson or account:

  1. From the Admin Console module, select Number Management > Manage Serial Numbers.

  2. Tick the checkbox against the serial number you want to assign.

  3. Select Allocate.

    The Confirm Operation dialog displays.

  4. Allocate the serial number.

    a. If allocating to a salesperson, enter the relevant salesperson in the Salesperson field.

    b. If allocating to an account, enter the relevant account number in the Account field.

    You can enter either a salesperson or an account number, but not both.

  5. Select Confirm.

You can view the allocation in the Allocated To column.

Deallocate a Serial Number

To deallocate a serial number from a salesperson or account, you need to:

  1. Tick the checkbox against the serial number to be deallocated.

  2. Select Deallocate.

  3. Select Confirm to confirm the deallocation of the serial number.

The status is updated to Not Allocated.

Reset a Serial Number

You can reset a serial number that is in a status of Selecting, Cooling Off or Expired.

To reset a serial number, you need to:

  1. Tick the checkbox against the serial number to be reset.

  2. Select Reset.

  3. Select Confirm to confirm the resetting of the serial number.

The status is updated to either Not Allocated, Allocated to Dealer or Allocated to Account.

Delete a Serial Number

You can reset serial numbers in all statuses except for Selected and In Use.

To delete a serial number, you need to:

  1. Tick the checkbox against the serial number to be deleted.

  2. Select Delete.

  3. Select Confirm to confirm the deletion of the serial number.

The serial number is removed once the listview is refreshed.

View Serial Number Errors

While managing serial numbers, errors can occur, for example, an invalid number format is entered, or a userClosed A person with the capability to log in to the CMP GUI software, such as a customer service advisor or agent. attempted to delete a serial number that was already in use. To search the listview for a particular serial number, enter the full or partial serial number in the Search field.
