Communications Rules
Communication (Comms) rule specify the circumstances under which a specific communication will be sent to the specified recipient.
For example a rule can specify that CMP
Converged Monetisation Platform. The MDS Global product that supports customer care and billing for digital service providers. sends a friendly bill reminder SMS
Short Message Service.
A text messaging service component of most mobile telephone systems. SMS uses standardized communication protocols to enable mobile phone devices to exchange short text messages. if the following circumstances are met:
- The customer
In the context of the Cloud Monetisation Platform, an individual or organisation who has signed an agreement to take goods and services from a service provider. A customer receives a bill associated with one or more subscriptions, and can be a single end user or a large company with many subscriptions assigned to one agreement. has an account
In the Cloud Monetisation Platform, a billing entity that can be used to manage payments on one or more subscriptions or payments for services. An account can hold details such as payments or invoices. of a specific type - that is, not a credit management account type. - The account balance is greater than zero.
But a more strongly worded reminder can be sent if these circumstances are met:
- The account is in credit control.
- The account balance is greater than zero.
- A payment is overdue.
A Comms rule can contain multiple rules that are processed in order until one is satisfied.
Comms rule configuration includes:
- A code and a meaningful descriptive name for the rule, for example, Send SMS Bill Reminder.
- The level(s) at which the rule applies - Subscription
A billing entity that incurs a charge. Examples include a network attached device whose usage you want to measure and charge for, or a monthly software subscription and/or Account. - A priority for the rule.
- A ruleset definition, which can consist of a number of Rule Groups, each of which needs:
- A meaningful descriptive name.
- A grouping for the set of rules in the group
In the Customer Manager Platform hierarchy, the highest level of the structure. The group level can be used to group corporates. Groups can hold financial information.: - Either all the rules must be true for the communication to be sent
- At least one of the rules must be true for the communication to be sent
- At least one rule, which consists of
- A rule description
- An operand
- An operator

For example, a rule that the account must be in credit control to send the communication can be set up as follows:

- The communication to be sent if the rule's conditions are met.
